Blue Angels Keep Serving Up Victories

Blue Angels Keep Serving Up Victories

MILWAUKEE – Mount Mary University kept it rolling today as they defeated Ripon College 7-2.

The Blue Angels would win the doubles 2-1. In coach Tom Troast's opinion, "The match of the night was the number one doubles match featuring Shauna Jacobs (Fr./East Troy, Wis.) and Ana Mercado (So./Grafton, -Wis.), down 7-4, they storm back." Jacobs and Mercado would finish (9-8, 7-3) against first doubles Madeline VandenHouten (So./Green Bay, Wis.) and Courtney Olson (Fr./New London).

The Blue Angels would then sweep the doubles against Ripon, Andrea Monacelli and Brooke Slamka would go (8-0) over Lucero Pena (Jr./Beaver Dam, Wis.)  and Madeleine Salzer (So./Oshkosh, Wis.), Krista Olson (Jr./Appleton, Wis.) and Sydney Dahlstrom (Jr./Marquette, Mich.) beat Lily Lenk (Fr./Amrey, Wis.) and Tenzin Tsephel (Fr./Madison, Wis.) 8-0.

MMU would lose the first and third singles matches, but Jacobs, Olson, Slamka and Dahlstrom would come up with big wins themselves to take the team to a 7-2 overall victory. Two dual matches in a row for the Blue Angels as they try to mimic the success of the 2013-14 season.

Mount Mary University next dual match is against Alverno College Sept. 11 at the Nicolet tennis courts; first game begins at 4:30 pm.
