KENOSHA, Wis. -- In their second dual match of the season, the Mount Mary University tennis team lost to host Carthage 9-0. The Blue Angels now move to 0-2 on the fall season as they still have a spring season available after the school's winter break.
The Lady Reds swept the day by first taking the doubles matches. Number one doubles Ana Mercado (Sr./Grafton, Wis.) and Amy Gossett (So./Franklin, Wis.) lost to Paine Moritz/Lauren Waznicki 8-2.
In the No. 2 doubles, Amanda Fahrendorf (So./Cedarburg, Wis.) and Marianne Xiong (Sr./Franklin, Wis.) fell short to Allison Tomal and Lauren Cushing 8-0. The Lady Reds won the third doubles spot by default, making it 3-0 going into the singles.
The four year letter winner Ana Mercado lost 6-2, 6-0 to fellow No. 1 single Paige Moritz.
A small spark was provided in the number four singles match when Marianne Xiong battled in both games, but Paige Petty held on for a 6-2, 6-1 victory.
After the second dual match of the season, the Blue Angels will still have time to add games to either their fall or spring schedules.
