Blue Angels Lose Heartbreaker

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Rockford University Regents defeated the Mount Mary University volleyball team 3-2 today. It is the fourth straight loss for the Blue Angels and moves the team to 1-8 while making the Regents 6-9 on the season.

Initially the Blue Angels came up with the big plays. Taking the first set to extra points, the Blue Angels held on for a 26-24 win.

They then sharpened up their offensive strike getting a game high 11 kills in the second set. The Blue Angels finished the second 25-19 over the Regents and went up a convincing 2-0.

After that the Regents turned up their offense. Rockford came out and finished the third with a precise .421 kill percentage to take the set 25-7. The momentum of the third carried over into the fourth with a game high 14 team kills for the Regents. With only three errors for Rockford, they turned the accurate set to a 25-14 win and tying the game at 2-2.

A very close fifth got away from the Blue Angels as the Regents led by a narrow 8-7 going into the final court switch. Rockford pulled away after that slowly and took the final set 15-12.

Julia Terasa (Jr./Waukesha, Wis.) led the Blue Angels with six kills and finished second on the team with seven assists.

Payton Hintz (So./Almond, Wis.) was on top of the assists as she led her team with 13 on the day.

The Regents had three players with double digit kills. Taylor Rossi finished with 12 kills and 32 assists for RU.

After today's game, the Blue Angels will get ready to play Silver Lake College Tues. Sept. 29 beginning at 7:00 pm.
