Blue Angels Volleyball Bring Home Honors

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Today at the Association of Division III Independents Headquarters, the Association announced this year's AD3I women's volleyball team. The Mount Mary University volleyball team was honored with five members on the AD3I second team.

In their final collegiate season, both Payton Hintz (Almond, Wis.) and Sarah Amoroso (Wauwatosa, Wis.) earned their way onto the AD3I second team. Hintz led the Blue Angels in assists (159) and was second on the squad in service aces (25). Her four-year teammate, Amoroso, led the defensive charge at the front of the net with 18 total blocks.

Lauren Harris (Jr./Sheridan, Ill.) led the Blue Angels offensively with 109 kills, 425 total attacks and 32 service aces. In the last three seasons, the outside hitter has MMU in both kills and service aces. For her efforts this season, Harris received a spot on the Association of Division III Independents second team.

Taking care of the backcourt for the Blue Angels, Marissa Tun (Jr./Greenfield, Wis.) and Michaela Buchholz (So./Germantown, Wis.) earned their way on to the AD3I second team. Tun did everything the Blue Angels needed at libero. The junior led the team with 201 digs and kept her team in many matches with her prowess at the service line as she ended the season with 14 service aces.

Buchholz's work as a defensive specialist gave MMU 85 digs and eight service aces on the year.

The Blue Angels work this season paid off with multiple honors from the AD3I. Many supporters are excited to see what the future will bring.
