Nester Acquires ACAA Accolade

MILWAUKEE – The American Collegiate Athletic Association announced their weekly awards today. Adrianna Nester (Sr./Anaheim, Calif.), of the Mount Mary University Blue Angels, was named this week's ACAA Women's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week.

As the senior outside hitter has been all season long, Nester was a major contributor to the recent success enjoyed by MMU Volleyball this last week as well. After the Blue Angels grabbed their first of two wins in the week against Holy Family College, MMU took on the Faith Baptist Bible College Eagles for the first time.

While the Blue Angels went on to defeat the Eagles 3-1 in a close back-and-forth match, Nester had one of her best games of the season. The senior landed a team high 13 kills on her 27 total attacks. Along with denying her opponent with seven digs, Nester also tied a program record for service aces in a single match with nine; Payton Hintz ('18) recorded nine service aces in a match against Great Lakes Christian in 2016.

Nester was not done on the week, however. In the rematch against FBBC at the Bloechl Center on Saturday, Nester again helped her squad all over the court. The Eagles won 3-1, but Nester again finished with another standout performance. After leading her team with 17 kills on offense, Nester set a new school record for digs in a single match with 42.

Nester and the Blue Angels return to action this week when they host the MMU Invite beginning on Fri. Oct. 25. Live stats and video for the matches will be available at MtMaryAthletics.com.
