Milwaukee, WI- It was a special night at the Bloechl Center when the Mount Mary Volleyball team hosted Maranatha Baptist on Friday. The match was the annual pink out match, in which the MMU Volleyball program and supporters commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month by wearing pink.
In the match, the Blue Angels showed flashes of grabbing a fourth straight victory, it was not to be however. Maranatha Baptist was victorious in straight sets by scores of 25-22. 25-9, and 25-18.
The visiting Sabercats took set one by a close score of 25-22. MBU continued the momentum as they rolled in set two, winning by a 25-9 score. The Blue Angels would not give in, and fought hard in the match's third set. It would not be enough however as Maranatha took set three by a 25-18 final to close out the match.
Statistically, Emma White led the Blue Angels with eight kills. Brianna Ecker added 7, bringing her career total to 955. Caitlyn Krell tallied 11 assists while Ecker paced MMU with 13 digs.
The Blue Angels (5-13) will be back in action tomorrow, when they head to cross town rival and fellow Women's institution, Alverno College.
