Milwaukee, WI- The first day of the 2024 Blue Angel Bash served as the home debut for the 2024 Blue Angel Volleyball team and new head coach Maida Wolff. The young team continued to show signs of improvement, however they did not pick up their first victory of the season. The Blue Angels fell in matches to Alverno and Lawrence.
The day got off to a most promising start for MMU. The Blue Angels came out of the gates playing very impressively, taking set one from Alverno in their finest stretch of play thus far on the season.
Set two proved the be the pivotal set of the match. It went back and forth with both team securing and holding off match points. In the end, the Inferno would take set two by a 27-25 score. The win seemed to propel the Inferno in the next two sets. Alverno took sets 3 and 4 by scores of 25-13 and 25-21 to finish the match.
In match two against Lawrence, the Vikings played a stellar match and MMU was unable to generate much momentum. Lawrence took the match by scores of 25-12, 25-11, and 25-17. Statistically Emma White recorded seven assists and eight digs on the match.
The Blue Angels (0-6) will have two more home matches tomorrow at the Blue Angel Bash. MMU will take on Ripon at 10 AM and finish off the day with a contest against Bluffton at 2:30 pm. Stay tuned to www.mtmaryathletics.com for all coverage of Blue Angel Volleyball.
