Milwaukee, WI- As the Mount Mary Blue Angel volleyball team navigates their way through the early season, they have faced no shortage of tough opponents. That was certainly the case on Saturday when MMU took on Ripon and Bluffton as part of day 2 of the 2024 Blue Angel Bash. The young Blue Angel team continues to grow and develop, but fell short of victory in both matchups.
The first match of the day for MMU was a rematch against Ripon College, the two teams met to open the season on August 30th. The Red Hawks took their second win of the season over the Blue Angels by scores of 25-18, 25-14, and 25-14.
Emma White recorded seven kills and seven digs in the match, while Harlee McDowell tallied 16 digs to lead Mount Mary. Anastasia Paulino provided 6 assists.
The Bluffton Beavers served as MMU's final opponent on the day. Bluffton came into the match with a 7-1 record and the Beavers lived up to that pristine mark, taking the match by scores of 25-9, 25-13, and 25-15.
Emma White continued her solid all-around day against Bluffton, totaling five kills, five assists, and eight digs. Harlee McDowell recorded eight digs as well and Anastasia Paulino provided six assists.
Mount Mary (0-8) will take to the road for their next match. The Blue Angels will head to Dubuque, Iowa on Tuesday, September 10th, to take on Emmaus Bible College. The match is scheduled for 7 pm and all coverage can be found here on www.mtmaryathletics.com
