MMU knocks off Moody Bible for second straight win

Chicago, IL- Last time out, the Mount Mary Blue Angel Volleyball team defeated Andrews University for their first victory of the season.  On Wednesday, the team traveled to Chicago to take on the Moody Bible Institute.  MMU played a second consecutive outstanding match, as they defeated the Archers in straight sets for a second consecutive win. 

Set number one saw Mount Mary show a great deal of resiliency.  The Blue Angels played from behind in most of the set but rallied for a 25-23 win.  In set number two, the two teams again played close.  The Blue Angels once again staged a comeback, scoring the last four points of the set to win a very close set by a 26-24 final score. 

The third set remarkably saw Mount Mary stick to the same script and come back for an exciting win.  MMU trailed 23-21 and 25-24, before scoring the match's last three points for the 27-25 set victory. 

Emma White recorded seven kills and three assists on the evening.  Anastasia Paulino added five assists for the Blue Angels in the victory. 

Mount Mary will only have one day of rest before their next match action.  On Friday, September 20th, the Blue Angels (2-9) will head to Lawrence University in Appleton for two matches.  They will have a rematch against the host Vikings at 3 pm, followed by a match against Rockford University at 5 pm.  All coverage and live links can be found on www.mtmaryathletics.com
