Milwaukee, WI- The Mount Mary Volleyball team made the short trip to Downtown Milwaukee on Saturday for two matches at Milwaukee School of Engineering. The Blue Angels would grab their third win of the season, defeating Maranatha Baptist. MMU then fell in their second match of the day against MSOE.
In the Blue Angels' first match of the day, they took on the Sabercats of Maranatha Baptist University. Set one was dominated by Mount Mary. Abigail Manthey served the Blue Angels to a 6-0 lead and MMU cruised to a 25-7 set victory.
MMU continued the momentum in set two, winning the second set by a 25-21 score. Set three saw the Blue Angels roll in an absolutely dominant fashion, taking the match- clinching set by a score of 25-5.
Statistically against MBU, Emma White played a strong all-around match, with 10 kills, 12 assists and 8 digs. Rosalinda Palacios added 9 kills and Latanisha Allen 7. Anastasia Paulino provided 15 assists, 9 digs, and 6 service aces. Abigail Manthey paced the Blue Angels with 15 digs and Harlee McDowell added 11.
In the second match of the day against the host Raiders, MSOE took set one by a 25-11 final score. Set two was also taken by MSOE by a 25-11 score. The Blue Angels kept the third set slightly closer but fell 25-15, as the Raiders won the third set and the match.
Statistically against MSOE, Rosalinda Palacios recorded 7 kills to lead the Blue Angels. Emma White paced MMU with eight assists and Abigail Manthey added 17 digs.
The Blue Angels (3-12) will next be in action on Thursday, October 3rd. MMU will host the Archers of Moody Bible Institute at 6 pm. The two teams met at Moody on September 18th and Mount Mary swept the match. All coverage of Blue Angel Volleyball can be found on www.mtmaryathletics.com
