Blue Angels Grab Tenth at NACC Chamionship

GREENFIELD, Wis. – The Mount Mary university cross country team particpated in the annual Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championships today at Greenfield Park. Edgewood won the conference race in team scoring while MMU placed 10 out of the 12 teams racing. Benedictine's Emma Roberts crossed the finish line first with a 24:34.58 time.

The Blue Angels were led by Daniela Torres (Sr./West Allis, Wis.) in their annual conference trip. This year, Torres was the front runner for MMU as she crossed the finish line at 29:42.03 in 49th place overall. This year's installment of the NACC Championship had over 100 runners.

The main pack for the Blue Angels all finished within three minutes of each other. Leading the primary pack for MMU was Ellie McMeeken (Fr./West Bend, Wis.). McMeeken finished the cold six-kilometer track in 32:35.14. The first year runner has been a consistent runner joining MMU in every qualifying race this season. Among her conference competitors, McMeeken finished in 72nd overall.

With the starting temperatures of the race near freezing, the Blue Angels stuck together on the difficult trek. Paces behind McMeeken was fellow Blue Angel Emily Green (So./Waukesha, Wis.). Green crossed the timeline at 32:37.07. Not surprisingly, Green finished in 73rd place in the conference race.

Johnelle Suto (Jr./Enterprise, Ore.) helped her team's score with a 77th place finish today at Greenfield Park. Suto was right behind her teammates crossing the finish at 32:58.96. Miranda Fluegge (Jr./Menomonee Falls, Wis.) was not far behind Suto finishing the race at 34:08.08 in 83rd place.

Newcomer Sara Rubovits closed out the scoring for the Blue Angels pack placing in 90 th overall in the conference wide race. Rubovits finished the long cold track at Greenfield Park in 35:07.63.

After today's race, the Blue Angels will prepare for their final race of the collegiate season at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh for the NCAA Regionals.
