Laura Sanders

The 2023 season marks Laura Sanders second season at the helm of the Mount Mary Cross Country Program.  Her debut season in 2022 marked signicant progress for the Blue Angel squad.  In addition to an increase in roster size, the team to recorded team scores at six separate meets throughout the season.

Coach Sanders brings an impressive skill set to the position, much of which she gained in her time as a standout student and cross country runner and fellow Wisconsin D3 institution, Carthage College.  In addition to being part of the cross country and track teams, Sanders served as an athletic department assistant and a student ambassador.    The upside of the Blue Angel program impressed Coach Sanders and she brings a great deal of enthusiasm to her new assignment, "I am thrilled to be a part of Mount Mary Athletics. The cross country program has so much potential for growth.”

Sanders was a multiple time CCIW (Collegiate Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) academic all-conference team member while at Carthage.  She graduated in May of 2021 with her bachelor’s degree in Sports Science and a minor in Spanish.  Sanders was a member of the coaching staff of the Germantown youth track and field club for 4 years, and also serves as a Physical Education teacher at All Saints Catholic School in Kenosha.
