Mount Mary vs Purdue-Calumet

Game Time: Sun. Apr. 10, 2016 1:00 pm & 3:00 pm
Place: Fifth Third Bank Field
NCAA Series: First meeting.

After a 10 day stretch without a Blue Angels softball game, it is finally time for MMU to hit the diamond once again. This time, the Blue Angels will take on Purdue-Calumet University.

The Peregrines are 11-15 on the season riding a two game winning streak. Playing over double the amount of games as the Blue Angels, PCU is very experienced and will put that experience to the test.

As a team the Peregrines are hitting .265 while holding opponents to a .251 batting average. PCU's biggest strength is their work on defense and in the circle. With a team ERA of 2.74 and a team fielding percentage of .947, runs will come as a premium against the Peregrines.

For PCU, Carly Murphy and Holly Pagan have led the charge in the circle. The pair of hurlers strikeout an average of 3.3 batters per contest and walk an average 1.8 per game, all while holding batters under a .245 batting average.

The Blue Angels are ready to get going after their long layover. Getting their bats going in their final doubleheader, MMU scored a season high five runs in their outing against Grinnell. The Blue Angels did not come away with a victory in the doubleheader, but the came alive including a 3-of-3 performance at the plate from freshman Madison Ledda (Tracy, Calif.) and the first homerun of the season for MMU off the bat of Payton Hintz (So./Almond, Wis.).

As a team, the Blue Angels have a batting average of .234 and an on-base percentage of .281. Jess Runge (Jr./Freedom, Wis.) has been a big part of that average leading the team with 11 hits while sporting a .344 batting average.
