Preview Concordia University Wisconsin vs MMU

MEQUON, Wis. – Today at the CUW Softball Complex, the Mount Mary University softball team (3-9) will take on the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons (9-5). The doubleheader that begins at 3:00 pm will be the sixth and seventh contest since the MMU softball program's beginning.

The Falcons have been a perennial member of the conference tournament for the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, which only sends their top six teams to the tourney. This season the Falcons have started on the plus side of .500 with their usual recipe of hitting the ball well (.321 batting average and .376 on-base percentage) and by pitching accurately (2.69 team ERA).

While the heart of the Falcons order hits between .425 and .358 at the plate, the entire starting lineup hits when it counts. Every offensive starter for CUW has an RBI, and three Falcons already have 11 or more RBIs on the year.

Emily Brekke leads CUW in the circle with a 1.78 ERA in 59.0 innings pitched. Brekke strikes out nearly 1-out-of-6 batters she faces and opponents are hitting .229 against her.

This season the Blue Angels have upped their game on both sides of the field. A net drop of -1.5 runs off the Blue Angels team ERA from last season has MMU competing in nearly every game. The addition of the Blue Angels getting a .060 point bump in the team's batting average has the Blue Angels making noise in the region.

Offensively the Blue Angels have seen multiple players with impactful games. Audrey Beck (Fr./Costa Mesa, Calif.) routinely gets on base this season sporting an incredible .500 on-base percentage. Playing in every game for MMU this season, that translates to Beck reaching safely at least twice in every contest played.

Katie Arce (Fr./Cypress, Calif.) and Sidnee Turnage (Fr./Hesperia, Calif.) have been reaching nearly as consistency while also bringing in a combined 14 runs this season in the power-spots in the Blue Angels lineup.

Hannah Harnsberger (Fr./Hillsboro, Ore.) and Adrianna Nester (Fr./Anaheim, Calif.) have led the Blue Angels in the pitching circle. Harnsberger has logged the majority of the innings with 38.1 so far this season. Along with four complete games for Harnsberger, she sports a 2-6 record with a 4.75 ERA.

Nester has put up 24.0 innings to this point in the season, and although she has fewer innings pitched, she leads the Blue Angels with 15 strikeouts.
