MILWAUKEE, WI --  October is just around the corner and with the turning of the calendar comes stores selling Halloween candy, Wisconsin nights getting a bit nippier, and by the 15th, NCAA Division basketball teams will begin practices for the 2013-14 season.

It has been an offseason of changes in Mount Mary athletics with the department displaying new colors and logos in for 2013.  Those changes are evident when one walks into the Bloechl Center, home to Blue Angels basketball, where the court is now adorned with the new colors around the lines and a big new logo at midcourt.

The next natural progression to that change came on Friday when the basketball team unveiled the uniforms the players will be sporting when taking the court this upcoming season.

Old Logo New Logo (Full)

The new uniforms sport a traditional look with both home whites and road navys reading "Mount Mary" across the front in the new "Mount Mary font."

A couple of the Blue Angels' secondary logos make appearances as well.  On the lower left side of the shorts is the "winged halo" look separated from the "Mount Mary" arc that it appears with in the school's primary logo.  Where the "V" comes together in front above the lettering is the "halo".

"I know the trend in uniforms is 'new new new'," said new Angels' coach Marc Heidorf, "college football teams have a different uniform seemingly every week and NBA is talking about putting nicknames on the back.  But I really like our look.  It is clean but distinctive."

Returner Shandrieka Richardson agrees.  "They look more professional.  Like we are the 'real deal'".

"I think they're great!" said freshman Taylor Baumgart.  "Love the logo and the colors aren't bad either."

The Angel uniforms will get their first "in game" action on Saturday, November 16th when they host Moody Bible Institute at 2pm.
