Tigers In Town

The Blue Angels are preparing to host another game at the Bloechl Center this weekend. Grace Bible College will come to town to face off with Mount Mary University on Jan. 17th at 8:00 pm.

After a big overtime victory for the Blue Angels, the team is looking to continue to build on that success Saturday. Grace Bible College (10-5) come to town, the highly rated team is on a three game losing streak. Last season, the Blue Angels lost to GBC in a close match, and while Tigers roster has not seen much turnover, MMU has added depth with the latest recruiting class.

Youngster Becky Onan (Fr./Grafton, Wis.) has been elevating her play game after game. Last game against the Illinois Institute of Technology, Onan took a vicious foul on her game tying field goal attempt. After shaking off the hit, Onan came up clutch and hit both free throws. Pulling down eight rebounds, four steals, three assists and again two blocks, Onan was a big part of the Blue Angels OT victory.

Chrisandra Freeman (Fr./Cedar Rapids, Iowa) has been leading the offensive strike this season for the Blue Angels, leading in points per game and putting up 19 in her last performance. Topping that off with Freeman's second double-double of the season, the rookie is looking to build on her consistently elevated performance on the court.

It has been three seasons since MMU has won back to back games, and the Tigers look to be a tough opponent standing in the way of that streak breaking win. However, the beginning of that streak in 2012 was started against GBC in the Bloechl were the Blue Angels won 68-66.

Following this Saturday's game, Mount Mary will play host to the Maranatha Baptist University Sabercats on Tuesday Jan. 20th at 7:00 pm.
