The Blue Angels are getting ready to play the Maranatha Baptist University Sabercats tomorrow evening. The 2-11 Blue Angels have seen a lot of increase in production from their 2014 recruiting class, and although they have dropped some tough games, the team has been elevating their play each night.
Becky Onan (Fr./Grafton, Wis.) has been on top of her game. After hitting some crucial game tying free throws in the second win of the season for MMU, Onan has played exceptionally. Onan has been putting the ball in the bucket with 9.2 points per game, but also her defensive talents have been a big help for MMU averaging 1.2 blocks per game and 1.2 steals per game.
Stepping up her level of play, Chrisandra Freeman (Fr./Cedar Rapids, Iowa) has dropped three double-doubles on the season. Last time was against Grace Bible College where Freeman went for 13 points, 11 rebounds, and two assists.
The Sabercats come in at 2-9 for Tuesday's game. Last season, MBU beat the Blue Angels in both games. In both losses for MMU, the Blue Angels were out rebounded by almost 20. The recipe for the Sabercats has been crash the glass and take the open shot, but with the lengthy guards of the Blue Angels, the matchup tomorrow at 7:00 pm in the Bloechl Center should provide interesting.
Following the game on Tuesday, the Blue Angels will head out to play Silver Lake College. The game in Manitowoc, Wis. is set for 7:00 pm.
