Mount Mary vs Alverno

Mount Mary vs Alverno

Game Time: Friday Nov. 13, 2015 7:00 pm
Place: Reiman Gymnasium
All-Time Series: Alverno leads 14-0

These two rivals have been going head to head for over a decade now. The Inferno have yet to surrender a loss to the Blue Angels, but the new MMU roster is looking to the future. With nearly a total overhaul, the Blue Angels enter the 2015-16 season with five new student-athletes.

The new mix of transfers and freshmen are looking to use their skill set to compete in the early season matchup against their rivals. Jess Runge (Jr./Freedom, Wis.) and Ariel Oviedo (Jr./Shawano, Wis.) are coming from Fox Valley Technical College, and will bring their collegiate experience to the otherwise young roster.

Becky Onan (So./Grafton, Wis.) who led the defense with 33 blocks. Onan kept her presence known down low for MMU averaging 6.3 rebounds per game.

The Inferno will bring a fully loaded roster to the Reiman Gymansium with 22 players to swap in and out. With a very large freshman class, the Inferno still return their five top scorers and rebounders. The chemistry of the team may be up in the air, but statistically, the Inferno will just be filling roles with new class.

Last time these teams matched up was the UW-La Crosse Tip-Off Tourney in 2014. The Inferno won 67-50 in a game where the Blue Angels shot 27 percent from the floor, but got to the free throw line 27 times. The only other time the Blue Angels went to the line more, they defeated Illinois Tech.
