MILWAUKEE – The Great South Athletic Conference has announced the tournament seeding and schedule for this year's conference tourney. Mount Mary University basketball was given the seventh seed and will face No. 2 seed Pine Manor Friday Feb. 26 at 3:00 pm EST.
As the GSAC has teams from Georgia to California, regular season conference play is only possible for a few conference members. Since regular season conference play is lopsided, and common opponents are sparse, the GSAC uses Masseyratings.com as their metric for determining tournament seeding.
Out of a possible 439 teams in NCAA DIII women's basketball, Pine Manor was given a 364 rank for their No. 2 seed in the GSAC. To put that into perspective, Marian University, a team MMU played earlier this season, is currently ranked at 361.
The tournament will be held at the Salem College Athletic Complex in Salem, N.C. with the first game starting at 11:00 am on Fri. Feb. 26.
The winner of the MMU/Pine Manor game will then go to the GSAC Semi-finals at 3:00 pm Saturday. For the official tournament schedule click here.
