Preview Grace Bible College vs MMU

MILWAUKEE – The Mount Mary University women's basketball team (1-5) hosts Grace Bible College today at the Bloechl Center. The Tigers (3-7) are coming off a 1-2 performance at the Super 8 Classic at Kentucky Christian University.

Although winless in their previous two games, the Tigers have had an offensive boost recently averaging 62.6 points per game in their last five contests. Much of that offensive surge for the Tigers has been due to the play of Baylee Draper. Draper is averaging 16.1 points per game while ripping down 10.7 rebounds per game. Draper's defense has also been a constant as she is third in the National Christian College Athletic Association in blocks with 1.3 per game.

Fellow Tiger McKenzie McCord has been the catalyst all season long for Grace Bible College. The junior guard averages an NCCAA leading 5.1 assists per game this season.

The Blue Angels statistically are led by Becky Onan (Jr./Grafton, Wis.) on both sides of the court. Onan's 11.5 points per game, 6.8 rebounds per game and 2.0 blocks per game leads the team this year. Along with her work on both ends of the court, this season the junior has seen a 15.1 boost in her free throw percentage from 2015-16.

Newcomer Brooke Uebersetzig (Fr./Greenwood, Ind.) has also provided a boost on offense for MMU. The first year guard has scored consistently and is second on the team with 9.0 points per game. Becoming a more consistent passer, Uebersetzig averages 2.2 assists per game this season, with her season high coming against Rockford when she had six assists in the game.

On paper, the teams are quite even. This season the Tigers have a slight edge in field goal percentage with a 36.9 percent compared to MMU's 33.3 percent. Another strength for GBC has been their effort to control the glass this season averaging 38.9 team rebounds per game to the Blue Angels 31.3.

Defensively, the Blue Angels have the upper hand averaging 3.8 blocks per game to their opponents 3.1. MMU also averages a full 4.0 steals per game more than the Tigers.
