MILWAUKEE – Tonight at the Bloechl Center, visiting Grace Bible College (4-7) defeated the Mount Mary University women's basketball team by a score of 74-40. The loss moves the Blue Angels to 1-6 with one game left to go before the holiday break.

In the first quarter, the Blue Angels jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after senior Ariel Oviedo (Shawano, Wis.) scored a transition layup off an early steal by Becky Onan (Jr./Grafton, Wis.). It was the first of three steals for Onan in the quarter, and one of six by the pesky Blue Angels defense in the same frame.

The Tigers scored on the opportunities they had by hitting 9-of-16 field goals in the first quarter. The Blue Angels kept pace by hitting 7-of-18 from the field and 3-of-4 from beyond the 3-point line. GBC edged out the first 10 minutes with a 21-17 lead.

In the second quarter, the Tigers applied the defensive pressure. MMU hit 1-of-9 from the field in the second after two Blue Angels had to leave the game due to injuries. The 13-2 run by the Tigers gave GBC a 34-19 lead going into the locker room at halftime.

Blue Angel Brooke Uebersetzig (Fr./Greenwood, Ind.) came out of the half with intensity. As the teams played 4-on-4 for much of the second half, Uebersetzig took advantage of the extra space. The rookie guard grabbed an early quarter steal and added three quick points. While also suppling three assists and two rebounds in the quarter, Uebersetzig and the Blue Angels kept pace scoring 12 to the Tigers 13.

Not giving up in the final ten minutes, the Blue Angels hit 2-of-6 from beyond the arc as they tried to cut down the lead. The Tigers shot 12-of-16 from the field in the final frame to take the quarter 27-9.

"Bad luck obviously with the injuries but we know we are playing with fire given our overall roster size," said Mount Mary Head Basketball Coach Marc Heidorf. "The responsibility for that falls squarely on me. I am proud of our program and players. They gave and continue to give all they have."

New comer Rae Grubbs (Fr./Covington, Ind.) led the Blue Angels scoring as she went 3-of-8 from outside the 3-point line on her way to 13 points. Uebersetzig scored 10 points while leading MMU with six assists.

Following tonight's contest, the Blue Angels will host Caltech (0-6) Sat. Dec. 17. The final game before the holidays will start at 2:00 pm at the Bloechl Center. Live stats and video of the game will be available at mtmaryathletics.com.
