Preview Grace Bible vs MMU II

WYOMING, Mich. – Today the Mount Mary University women's basketball team will play their first of two games in Michigan on their weekend trip. The Grace Bible College Tigers (9-8) will play host for the weekend's inaugural game.

Earlier this season the Tigers defeated the Blue Angels 74-40 to make the active all-time series between the schools a close 6-4 with GBC leading. A very effective game for Grace Bible earlier this year as the Tigers hit 52.4 percent from the field while three starters scored over 15 points. Among them, Baylee Draper notched a double-double with her 18 points and 14 rebounds.

The first contest against Grace Bible was a breakout game for rookie guard Brooke Uebersetzig (Greenwood, Ind.) who scored 10 points, her collegiate high 6 assists, five rebounds and three steals. Rae Grubbs (Fr./Covington, Ind.) also had a big game against the Tigers in the team's first attempt. Grubbs knocked in her collegiate high five field goals and three 3-pointers on her way to a team high 13 points.

Currently the Tigers are riding a three game winning streak. Thursday night Grace Bible defeated Andrews University (3-12), the team the Blue Angels (4-8) will play Sunday, by a final score of 62-46. Although the Tigers shot a less effective 34.8 percent floor than their meeting against the Blue Angels, their persistence on the glass gave them the edge over Andrews and also gave Baylee Draper another double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.

The Blue Angels have a 3-2 record after the beginning of 2017. With a number of impressive offensive performances, nearly every starter has made a big impact in the winning stretch. Becky Onan (Jr./Grafton, Wis.) recorded two double-doubles in the five game stretch including a three game streak of scoring 20 or more points for her team.

Jess Runge (Sr./Freedom, Wis.) started off the new year with an average of 16.2 points in her first five games back. Runge hit the mark accurately, in her game against Robert Morris University Springfield (0-13), Runge went 10-of-10 from the field and set her NCAA high in scoring with 24 points. Two games later against RMU Springfield's sister school RMU Peoria (3-9), Runge went 10-of-11 on her way to 24 points yet again.

The teams begin play at 12:00 pm CST at the Aldrich Athletic Center.
