Preview Robert Morris University Springfield vs MMU II

MILWAUKEE --   Today at the Bloechl Center, the Mount Mary University women's basketball team will host Robert Morris University Springfield (0-15). The 12:00 pm contest will be the second game in the season series with the Blue Angels winning the first meeting 81-43.

Today will also be a day of remembrance for Tajah Williams. Williams started 16 of 20 games for the Blue Angels last season and passed away this last December. Please join us today at the Bloechl Center for a halftime presentation dedicated to the memory of Tajah Williams. (Last year's photo gallery of Williams can be found here.)

The Eagles spread their offense across their starters as they can. Leading the way in the 10 game sample, Freshman E'Lexus Murrell leads the charge on offense with 7.8 points per game. While also pestering the opposition's offense, Murrell leads the Eagles in steals as well with 1.4.

As a team, the Eagles average 30.4 points per game while shooting 23.4 percent from the field. RMU Springfield hits their 3-point field goals at a rate of 20.6 percent, and averages 9.7 3-point attempts per game.

The Blue Angels are led by Becky Onan (Jr./Grafton, Wis.) with 14.2 points per game. Always improving, Onan has also upped her free throw percentage (70.9) a full 10 percentage points since her sophomore year, over 19 percent from her freshman season. Onan also leads the Blue Angels in rebounding with 6.9 per game and blocks with 1.1 per game.

As a team, the Blue Angels are averaging 54.1 points per game while shooting 36.3 percent from the field. On the defensive end, the Blue Angels like to force the issue with 8.8 team steals per game and 2.3 blocks per game.

The last time these two teams met up the Blue Angels took the victory by 38 points. That win was the biggest margin of victory for MMU since the 2010-11 season. That game also saw Jess Runge (Sr./Freedom, Wis.) torch the nets for an official 10-of-10 performance from the field. That effort catapulted her NCAA career high to 24 points, a feat she would then tie two more times in the next five games.

Today's game begins at 12:00 pm at the Bloechl Center. Live video of the entire game and ceremony will be available at mtmaryathletics.com, or click here closer to game time.
