Blue Angels Soccer Chance to Make History

MILWAUKEE – Today at KleinBank Stadium, the Mount Mary University soccer team has a chance to go down in the MMU annals as the winningest team in school history. The Blue Angels (8-6) are guaranteed to tie the record set in 2012 (8-7) and will be only the second team in school history to finish the season with a winning record.

Along with the overall winning record, this season, the Blue Angels have defeated more NCAA Division III teams than any previous team in school history; 6-4 against NCAA teams in 2016. In comparison, the record setting 2012 team went 1-5 against NCAA Division III teams.

Coming into today's game, the Blue Angels have spread the scoring across much of the lineup. Allison Klotz (Fr./Port Washington, Wis.) and Kaeli Stellings (Fr./Beloit, Wis.) lead the offensive strike with 13 and 11 goals respectively. Klotz 13 goals leads the Association of Division III Independents.

In the goal, Hannah Rose (Fr./Jeromesville, Ohio) has been very consistent. With four shutouts on the year and allowing 1.71 goals per game, Rose and the defense have kept the Blue Angels offense in every game.

Crown is 1-14-1 on the year. The Storm are led offensively by Anna Kragt who has five goals on the season. The defense for the Storm is giving up an average of 4.48 goals per game this season.
