Top Times For Blue Angels

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – As the Mount Mary University cross country team wraps up their season, the Blue Angels finish 36th out of 40 teams at the NCAA Regionals. Although the team placement was not as high as the last few races, the Blue Angels squad nearly all set their season's best time.

Leading the way for the Blue Angels for the first time this season, Natalie Guyette (Jr./Shiocton, Wis.) finished with a 24:11.2 time and a 138th place finish; a virtual tie with 137th place. That knocks nearly a full forty seconds off her previous best six kilometer time.

The next Blue Angel to finish was Danielle Sherrer (Sr./Milwaukee, Wis.) who ran in her final collegiate race. Sherrer has been a poster child of the dedication and hard work necessary to become a successful student-athlete. Sherrer has cut down times season after season, and caps off her career with a personal record 26:20.3 6k time.

Right behind the senior is newcomer Christina Ishaq (Fr./Milwaukee, Wis.) finishing in 219th place and a 26:23.6 time, her season and collegiate best on a six kilometer track.

Battling fatigue Hayley Hove (Jr./Golden Valley, Minn.) finished with a 28:22.2. A decision made at right before the race, Hove fought through and finished with one of the packs best times.

The season comes to an end after the Blue Angels accomplished quite a lot. The Blue Angels had top ten finishes in multiple races, and finished sixth in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference meet bringing home the school's first ever NACC award; Jori Galles (So./Waukesha, Wis.) received an All-NACC Runner award for her performance this season.

As the Blue Angels continue to work time and finish stronger, the future of MMU cross country looks bright.
