ROCKFORD, Ill./MILWAUKEE – The Blue Angel soccer squad salvaged a split to this weekend's slate, dropping a Friday lopsided 8-0 affair to Rockford University before trudging out a 1-0 win over Andrews Sunday in Milwaukee.

Friday's score was a difficult one to swallow, as Mount Mary fielded the bare minimum seven players against a full 11-player squad for Rockford. While the Blue Angels managed to put a couple shots on goal, it was not near enough as the Regents converted on eight of 25 shots on goal to steal an 8-0 victory.

Sunday's showing was much better with nine MMU players against Andrews' 11, but it wasn't necessarily the prettiest of offensive games for either team. Andrews actually outshot Mount Mary 20-5 and 9-3 on shots-on-goal, but it was a first-half score from sophomore Emily Ristow (Sheboygan, Wis.) that would end up being the game-winner in the 1-0 decision.

Senior goalkeeper Ashley Leverenz (Mauston, Wis.) tallied a whopping 26 saves on 34 shots-on-goal in the two-game series, and saw 59 combined shots taken by the Regents and Cardinals.

Ristow's goal on Sunday brings her season total to 13.

Mount Mary will close out its season with two home games, hosting Grace Bible College Saturday in a noon matchup before welcoming Alverno College for a Monday afternoon showdown of crosstown rivals.
