Inferno Top Blue Angels

MILWUAKEE – As the 2015-16 season continues, the Mount Mary University soccer team lost a tough match to host Alverno College 4-0. The loss puts the Blue Angels at 0-3 on year, and makes the Inferno 1-2.

Alverno got off to a quick start, 11 minutes into the game, KC Warren knocked in her first goal giving the Inferno a 1-0 lead. Becky Onan (So./Grafton, Wis.) had five saves in the first half, while her counterpart only need to defend two shots in the frame.

The Blue Angels got one more shot on goal in the second half, but the relentless Inferno offense continued to hammer away with 12 shots, nine of which were on goal. KC Warren paved the way for the Inferno offense getting off seven shots, and slipping two past Onan.

The Inferno continued to pressure the MMU defense and that led to a 3-0 second half in favor of Alverno.

This moves the series to 11-0 Inferno since MMU joined the NCAA ranks. The growing MMU team has continued to take care of the job on the defensive side. Allowing much fewer goals, and shots on goal on average than last season means that the focus on defense is paying off.

Onan finished with 11 saves making that an even 40 on the 2015-16 campaign.

Now the Blue Angels will get ready to host Blackburn Sat. Sept. 12 at Mount Mary Field. The game begins at 12:00 pm against the Beavers (1-3).
