Mount Mary vs Maranatha Baptist: II

Game Time: Mon. Feb. 15, 2016 7:00 pm
Place: MBU Gymnasium
NCAA Series: Sabercats lead 4-1.

The Sabercats host tonight's game with a record of 7-8. After defeating MMU 62-39 in January, Maranatha has gone 1-2 since. Their one win in that span was against Moody Bible Institute, a team MMU recently defeated 60-40.

This season, MBU is averaging 59.9 points per game while allowing 56.3 points per game. Although a few members of the Sabercats like to shoot outside, the team averages 22.6 percent from beyond the 3-point line. When the team packs in the scoring, they have been more productive as they average 36.3 from the field.

Leading the offense for the Sabercats is Stacy Reinke who averages 10.6 points per game and also helps her team with 6.9 rebounds per game. Teammate Alexis Johnson tacks on 10.0 points per game and a team leading 7.4 rebounds per game.

MMU is coming off a 74-38 loss to Silver Lake after winning two straight. A winning streak that saw the Blue Angels go 9-of-9 to begin their first win against Moody Bible, and their second win featured a breakout performance by Ariel Oviedo (Jr./Shawano, Wis.) with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists.

As the season goes on, Jess Runge (Jr./Freedom, Wis.) and Oviedo have been active taking the ball away from opponents as they average 2.6 2.2 steals per game respectively. Good enough for first and fifth place in steals in the Great South Athletic Conference.

Becky Onan (So./Grafton, Wis.) has also been an anchor defensively as she leads the GSAC with 3.0 blocks per game, second in the GSAC has 2.2 blocks per game. With that defensive prowess, Onan has added a team leading 13.6 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game.
