Preview Silver Lake vs MMU II

MANITOWOC, Wis. – Tonight at 7:00 pm in the Hillside Hall Gymnasium, the Silver Lake Lakers (14-8) will host the Mount Mary University women's basketball team in the late season rematch. The Blue Angels (4-10) defeated the Lakers on January 13th in a convincing 77-54 fashion.

This season the Lakers live and die by the success of their 3-point shooting. Averaging 19.68 3-point attempts per game, SLC's 32.1 percent has elevated the squad's per game scoring to 69.2.

Although held to 54 against the Blue Angels and 53 in their most recent contest against Rochester College (8-14), a reshuffling of the Lakers lineup has the team averaging 76.0 points per contest since the loss to MMU on January 13th.

Along with the change in the starting rotation, the Lakers will see the return of Haliee Kotch who was absent in the first game against the Blue Angels. Hotch is third on the team in scoring with 8.8 points per game and has substantial presence on the defensive end with 1.31 blocks per game.

The Blue Angels have received consistent scoring from their starters recently. Most notably, Jess Runge (Sr./Freedom, Wis.) has averaged 16.1 points per game since the beginning of 2017. The offensive tear has seen the senior reach her NCAA high 24 points three times in seven games.

Teammate Becky Onan (Jr./Grafton, Wis.) has also come out of the first half of the season on an offensive streak. Onan is averaging 17.0 since the calendar turned over to 2017 and has also posted two double-doubles in that stretch.

As a team, the Blue Angels are averaging 54.3 points per game while shooting 36.9 percent from the field. MMU has also collected 32.7 rebounds per contest, but their biggest advantage would be the team average of 8.8 steals per game. As a byproduct, there are three Blue Angels in the top 15 in the Association of Division III Independents in steals per game; Onan, Runge and Ariel Oviedo (Sr./Shawano, Wis.) are on the list.
